Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA)

For Self-Employed and Contractors
If you are self-employed, independent contractor, gig worker or otherwise not qualified for the traditional unemployment insurance, you may qualify under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program. See these resources and visit the website.
     

Mortgage Payment Assistance

The Nevada Hardest Hit Fund
NAHAC has relaunched the Unemployment Mortgage Assistance Program, offering mortgage assistance up to $3,000/month for those with job loss due to the pandemic and are receiving unemployment insurance benefits. Learn more here for eligibility.

Legal Assistance

Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada
Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada continues to provide legal services although in-person assistance is no longer available in compliance with state directives and CDC guidelines. To access services during normal business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
   
Unemployment Filing
The Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) is the state’s lead workforce development agency. Unemployment benefits may be available to individuals who are no longer working on or whose hours have been significantly reduced. It's website provides a safe, efficient way to file an unemployment insurance claim or file a claim for weekly benefits. You may also access payment status, change payment method, change tax withholding options, and access a 1099G for filing tax returns.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. This program also includes churches and religious organizations.
     

IRS Economic Impact Payment or "Stimulus Check"

IRS: The Internal Revenue Service
The IRS has started sending out the Economic Impact Payment, "Stimulus Payment". If you don’t normally file a tax return, please complete this form. The IRS will use that information to either send you a check or deposit into your account.


If you have already submitted your information, check on the status of your Economic Impact Payment.
